CONWAY, S.C. - App State women's tennis fell to Coastal Carolina, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
App State falls to 3-8 and 2-3 in league action while Coastal Carolina improves to 8-3 and 4-1 in conference play.Â
Coastal won the doubles point before claiming five of six singles contests.Â
In doubles play, Helena Jansen and Sandra Anglesjö won their second straight doubles match with a convincing 6-0 win over Jesse Hollins/Valentina Urelli as the No. 2 in the lineup.Â
However, Coastal won the doubles point after María José Zacarias/Ksenia Aleshina fell in a hard-fought battle against the top duo of Jessie Mount and Somer Dalla-Bona, 6-4.Â
Aleshina bounced back in singles, as she dealt Mathilde Tranberg a straight-set defeat as the No. 2Â in the lineup. Aleshina picked up her fourth win of the season. Jansen fell in three sets after coming back from a first-set loss to force a third frame.Â
App State returns to action next week when it hits the road to face the Georgia schools. The Apps will start with Georgia State at 10 a.m. in Atlanta.Â
