BOONE, N.C. - Recent App State women's basketball graduate
Ashley Polacek will continue her playing career after signing with Cluj Napoca of the Liga Nationala League in Romania.
Polacek played two seasons for the Black and Gold after transferring from UCF going into the 2017-18 season. The floor general for the Mountaineers averaged 10.6 points per game, 3.9 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 66 career games. A staple in the backcourt, her 257 assists in two seasons were second in the Sun Belt while her 3.9 assists per game were fifth.

Last season, her 3.3 assists per game and 99 assists were top 10 in the league, while her career-high 11.2 points per game and 40 3-pointers were both second on the team. Polacek finished seventh in the league in assist/turnover ratio and fifth in minutes played per game. She ended the season scoring in double figures in 19 games with four outings of at least 20 points.
In 2018-19, she was second in the conference at 4.4 assists per game and assists with 158. Polacek ranked 49th in the nation in total assists, led all collegiate players from Canada in assists per game, and was fourth in scoring, averaging 10.1 points per contest. Also, Polacek was the only player in the league to average at least 10 points and four assists per game. The newly-turned pro point guard helped App State go on a 10-2 run in the final 12 games of the season en route to a 22-14 season a and a WBI title. During the four-game stretch, she was named to the WBI All-Tournament Team after turning in a solid 15.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
