BRISTOL, Tenn. - App State women's tennis suffered a 4-0 decision to ETSU on Sunday morning at the Bristol Racquet Club.
App State falls to 5-4 on the season while the Bucs improve to 7-4.Â
The Bucs started the match by taking doubles and carrying the momentum into singles. ETSU, who is a solid team at home, claimed three singles contests. The match was stopped until the first team got to four points.
Appalachian was close to cutting the gap and making things interesting.
Sasha Pisareva had come back from a one-set deficit to force a third frame, storming back from being down 3-1 and scoring four straight points to make the score 5-3 in the third. Pisareva was one point away from completing the comeback until the match was called.Â
María José Zacarias held a 6-1, 4-1 edge until her contest went unfinished, just before
Cassie McLay fell in a three-set affair. She won the first frame (6-3) before falling in the next two.Â
ETSU won in straight sets on Courts 4 and 2 after winning the doubles point.Â
Appalachian looks to bounce back in nine days when it faces Navy on March 10 in Orlando.Â
