Men's Tennis Suffers Loss to Tennessee Tech

Box Score BOONE, N.C. - App State men's tennis fell to Tennessee Tech by a score of 6-1 on Sunday morning in the home opener at the Deer Valley Racquet Club.

The Mountaineers fall to 1-4 while TTU improves to 1-3 on the year.

TTU captured the doubles point and five of six singles matches to claim the win.

The match could have gone in favor of the Apps, as they jumped out to good starts in both singles and doubles, but were unable to finish.

In doubles, both victories by the Golden Eagles were by two points on Court No. 1 and No. 3.

After the visitors took a 1-0 lead, Aleksandar Petrovic earned his first spring victory for the Black and Gold at the top spot when he defeated Rafael Tosetto in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The victory for Petrovic tied up the contest, 1-1.

However, Tennessee Tech picked up the next five singles matches for the win. Zion Heaven's match went to a tiebreak in both sets, while Alessio Azzalini's contest also had a frame that went to a tiebreaker.

The Mountaineers aim to snap a four-match skid on Sunday against ETSU at 11 a.m. in Johnson City.
