BOONE, N.C. --
Jessica Dixon entered the record books to lead App State women's track & field at a pair of meets over the weekend.
Four athletes competed at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, while others competed at the South Carolina Invitational.
Dixon posted the fourth fastest time in program history in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 24.40 seconds. Her mark against some of the top competition in the country, placed her 20th overall and ranks second in the Sun Belt. She also placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.19 seconds.
Also in New Mexico,
Taylor Smith took part in the long jump, covering 18-4.25 (5.59m). She also placed 16th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71 seconds.
Djamila Petersen and
Peighton Simmons also represented the Mountaineers in New Mexico, competing in the triple jump. Simmons placed 10th with a mark of 39-9.25 (12.12m) and Petersen was 16th with a leap of 38-7.50 (11.77m).
At the South Carolina Invitational, the Black and Gold had a strong showing in the 3,000-meter run.
Lisha van Onselen crossed third in 9:56.81,
Izzy Evely was fourth in a PR time of 10:03.42 and
Kylee Frady finished fifth with a PR time of 10:04.84.
In the pole vault,
Casey Meinert cleared a PR height of 11-1.75 (3.40m) to finish in a tie for second and
Silvanna Curtain cleared 10-8.00 (3.25m) to finish in a tie for seventh.
LaBria King clocked a time of 7.71 seconds in the 60-meter dash to finish third, while
Victoria Wilform cleared 5-1.00 (1.55m) to place third in the high jump.
The DMR tandem of
Samara Gibson,
Myia Spivey,
Jelonnie Smith and Frady placed third with a time of 12:05.60.
Nevaeh Haddock was fifth in the long jump invitational with a mark of 17-9.75 and recorded an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a PR mark of 38-2.25 (11.64m).
Sarah Venable placed eighth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:06.63.
The Mountaineers will compete at the JDL College Kick-Off on Thursday in their final meet before the Sun Belt Championships on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.
