WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – App State women's track & field competed at the JDL Team Challenge on Thursday evening in its final tune up before the Sun Belt Championships.
There was no scoring in the meet.
Breah Taylor paced App State with a first-place finish in the long jump with a PR distance of 37-1.75 (11.32m).
LaBria King crossed second in the 60-meter dash in 7.76 seconds and
Madison McCoy placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 48-6.75 (14.80m).
Jelonnie Smith recorded a pair of top-five finishes on the evening. She was second in the 200-meter dash in 25.59 seconds and crossed third in the 400-meter dash in 59.39 seconds.
In the high jump,
Victoria Wilform posted a new PR with a mark of 5-5.00 (1.65m).
Kayla Carson finished third with a mark of 5-3.00 (1.60m) and
Myia Spivey placed eighth clearing 4-11.00 (1.50m).
App State placed two in the top-eight of the 3,000-meter run.
Taylor Houston crossed fourth in 10:44.63 and
Reilly Caldwell finished right behind in fifth with a time of 10:48.42.
In the 800-meter run,
Elizabeth Fuller finished fifth in 2:25.77 and
Ann Mosely Whitsett placed eighth with a time of 2:28.20.
The Mountaineers will compete next at the Sun Belt Championships on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 in Birmingham, Ala.
