JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – App State women's track & field won three events at the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
There was no team scoring in the meet.
In the pole vault,
Celia Agee cleared 3.40m to take first place.
Silvanna Curtain also cleared 3.40m to finish second and
Casey Meinert cleared 3.25m to place fifth.
The Mountaineers also had three finish in the top-eight in the triple jump.
Peighton Simmons won the event with a mark of 12.31m,
Nevaeh Haddock finished fourth with a mark of 11.57m and
Hassani Burris was eighth with a mark of 11.20m.
Lila Peters won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:57.56, with
Maya Sweeney placing fifth in 19:06.21.
Simmons also recorded a second-place finish in the long jump, covering 5.88m.
Djamila Petersen was fifth with a mark of 5.68m and
Breah Taylor placed eighth with a mark of 5.39m.
Jelonnie Smith qualified fifth in the 200-meter dash in prelims and went on to finish third in the finals with a time of 25.54 seconds.
Kayla Carson was sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m.
The Mountaineers will compete at a pair of meets next weekend. App State will send a group of athletes to the New Mexico Collegiate Classic and a group to the South Carolina Invitational.
