Vote for Zac Thomas to Advance in Davey O'Brien Award Race

BOONE, N.C. — One of 15 candidates for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, App State quarterback Zac Thomas has received multiple honors in the days following his four-touchdown performance in a 47-10 win against Troy, including being named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week.

Fans can go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for one Manning Award Quarterback of the Week — voting closes at noon Thursday. Click HERE and like the image of Thomas to vote for him.

On Tuesday, with another vote in play, Thomas was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's QB Class of 2020, making him one of 35 quarterbacks who is now an official candidate for the award.

Next Monday, 16 semifinalists will be named based on voting from the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee as well as the first round of the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote, which will run through Sunday.

Fans will vote via three social media platforms —InstagramTwitter and Facebook—and the top vote getter on each platform will each receive the equivalent of two additional committee member ballots for that voting period. Fan voting will be done by liking the quarterback's photo from the original post on the official Davey O'Brien social media account.

The narrowed-down list of Golden Arm candidates includes four quarterbacks from outside the Power Five conference setup in 2020. The award is presented annually to the top upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with his class, with on-field performance being evaluated along with character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, teamwork and leadership qualities.
