ARLINGTON, Tex. -- App State men's basketball will return to the road for two games this weekend in Texas, beginning Thursday evening at UT Arlington at 8 p.m. EST. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.
THE SERIES
- This will is the 13th meeting between the two schools, with the Mavericks holding a 10-2 edge
- UT Arlington swept the season series last season and has won four consecutive games in the series
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State fell to Louisiana on Monday evening by an 81-73 score to drop to 9-7 overall and 3-2 in Sun Belt play. The Black and Gold's 3-2 mark in league play sits in a tie for second place
- Justin Forrest had a game-high 21 points, Adrian Delph added 14 off the bench and Isaac Johnson drained a career-high four three-pointers to finish with 12 points. Michael Bibby tied his App State career-high with nine points, hitting a trio of triples and O'Showen Williams had a solid all-around game with seven points, a season-high tying six rebounds, a season-best seven assists and four steals
- Forrest has scored 20 or more points in four of the Mountaineers' five Sun Belt games this season and is averaging 22.6 points in conference play
- App State appeared in the receiving votes section of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll for the second time this season, garnering in two votes
- The Mountaineers are averaging 8.0 steals as a team and are just one of four teams in the league to be averaging at least 8.0 steals. App State's 128 total steals on the season sits 40th in the nation
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
- UT Arlington dropped a 66-54 home decision to South Alabama on Monday evening to fall to 5-11 on the season and 1-4 in the Sun Belt
- TiAndre Jackson-Young had a team-high 16 points off the bench, while David Azore added 14 points for the Mavericks. Radshad Davis chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds in a reserve role
- Azore is averaging a team-high 14.9 points and is second on the team with 56 assists
- Brian Warren is also averaging double figure scoring at 13.3 points and has a team-high 63 assists
- Jabari Narcis has 23 blocks on the season, which sits third in the Sun Belt

App State will face Texas State on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST, before returning to Boone next weekend for contests against Little Rock on Jan. 16 and Arkansas State on Jan. 18.
