App State Hosts Georgia Southern on Black Saturday

BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball will host one of the three remaining unbeaten teams in Sun Belt play in Georgia Southern on Black Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.

TICKETS
Season tickets and single game tickets for the 2019-20 season are on sale and can be purchased by calling the App State ticket office at 828-262-2079.

BLACK SATURDAY
All fans are encouraged to wear black to the game as part of Black Saturday. All fans dressed in black will receive $5 off admission to the game. In addition, the first 100 fans through the southwest entrance will receive a black t-shirt.

ALCOHOL
Plans for alcohol sales at select men's and women's 2019-20 home games include:
  • Craft beer, domestic beer and wine will be sold on the concourse near Section 12.
  • Service begins when doors open one hour prior to tipoff and ends at the conclusion of the third quarter for women's games and at the under 12:00 media timeout of the second half for men's games.
  • All patrons will be required to produce valid identification, which will be checked at the point of sale during each transaction.
  • Per state law, patrons 21 years of age or older will be permitted to purchase a maximum of one alcoholic beverage per transaction with valid identification.
  • Patrons will not be permitted to leave the Holmes Convocation Center with alcohol purchased within the venue.
  • Law enforcement and contracted security staff will monitor the concourse and seating areas for underage drinking, beverage pass-offs and problematic patrons or situations.
  • Public service announcements about drinking responsibly will be shown on the video board and announced via the arena's public address system.
  • Alcohol will be served at all men's basketball home games for the remainder of the season.
THE SERIES
  • This will be the 51st meeting all-time between the two schools, with App State holding a 26-24 lead
  • Georgia Southern has won two straight in the series, including a 92-69 victory in Boone last season
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State stands at 8-6 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt play after falling to Georgia State 69-60 on Thursday
  • Adrian Delph notched his first career double-double with 18 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and a career-high tying three steals. O'Showen Williams added 12 points and Justin Forrest reached double figures for the seventh consecutive game with 10 points
  • Forrest is averaging a team-high 17.7 points and is averaging 19.0 points over his last seven games
  • With his double-double on Thursday, Delph is one of five Mountaineers to have recorded a double-double this season, joining Isaac Johnson, Kendall Lewis, James Lewis Jr. and Forrest
  • Hunter Seacat had recorded a block in five straight games, including two in three of those five contests. Seacat also has had four or more rebounds in five of his last six games and is averaging 5.0 rebounds during that span
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • Georgia Southern improved to 9-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play with a 70-67 win at Coastal Carolina on Thursday
  • Quan Jackson led the Eagles with 22 points and six rebounds, Elijah McCadden added 16 points and nine rebounds, Calvin Wishart had 13 points off the bench and Ike Smith tallied 11 points and seven rebounds
  • Smith is the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week after finishing with 25 points and six rebounds at Georgia on Dec. 23
  • Georgia Southern has a turnover margin of +5.7, which leads the Sun Belt
UP NEXT
App State concludes its three-game home stand on Monday at 7 p.m. against Louisiana. The Mountaineers then head to Texas for two games, taking on UT Arlington at Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. EST and Texas State on Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. EST.
