BOONE, N.C. -- With basketball season set to begin this week with App State's first official practice, a handful of Mountaineer alums have begun their seasons overseas. We take a look at how our basketball alums are faring:
Donald Sims led Michoacan to a victory over the fifth-ranked Astros (1-1) 90-83 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) on Saturday night. Sims scored 23 points, grabbed six boards, dished out six assists and recorded three steals in 34 minutes. Aaguacateros Michoacan (1-1) is placed fourth in the West Division. In the first two games of the season, Sims is averaging 21.0 points on 46.2 percent shooting from deep, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in 31.5 minutes.
Andre Williamson helped Neptunas Klaipeda to a victory against the closely-ranked Juventus (0-1) 80-67 in the Lithuanian LKL in Saturday night's game. He finished with two points and five rebounds. Williamson is in his first season with Neptunas Klaipeda.
Griffin Kinney contributed to a Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen's victory against the closely-ranked Liege Basket (1-1) 71-59 in the Belgian Euromillions League last Saturday. In nine minutes, he scored two points. Through the team's first two games, Kinney is averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.
Jeremi Booth was the main contributor in a SO Pont de Cheruy Charvieu Chavanoz's victory against Avignon/Pontet (1-1) 79-73 in the French NM1 (third division) on Tuesday night. He scored 25 points in the victory. SO Pont de Cheruy Charvieu Chavanoz (2-0) is placed third in Group B. In two games this season, Booth is averaging 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
Ryann Abraham helped Indigenas win their fourth game in a row against Jass (3-11) 90-75 in the Nicaraguan LSB in Friday night's game. He scored 27 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists in 31 minutes. Indigenas de Matagalpa (7-7) is placed fourth in the LSB.This season Abraham is averaging 19.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.7 steals.
