BOONE, N.C. – Following a historic season for Appalachian State softball,
Kenzie Longanecker and
Keri White were named to the All-Sun Belt First and Second teams respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Kenzie Longanecker, a junior from Sanford, Fla., becomes the first Mountaineer ever to be named to the All-Sun Belt First Team since App State joined the conference in 2014. She is one of only three pitchers chosen to the first team.
Longanecker has consistently been ranked a top pitcher in the Sun Belt all season after posting a 2.39 ERA with a 14-7 record and 92 strikeouts. Her 14 wins are tied for second-most wins in a single season in program history.
Against Louisiana this season, she picked up her 300th career strikeout becoming only the fourth pitcher in App State history to do so. Along the way she has tallied 31 wins in her career, tied for second all-time.
Keri White, a junior from Hampstead, N.C., becomes the third Mountaineer to be named to the All-Sun Belt second team, joining
Jenny Dodd (2018) and Sarah Warnock (2015). She is one of two players selected at third base for the second-team and one of three selected overall.
This season, White posted a .346 batting average and .467 slugging percentage with 63 hits, three home runs and 23 RBIs. White's 63 hits are good for fourth in the Sun Belt this season and second in App State history.
Along with hits, White led the Mountaineers with 182 at bats, 37 runs, nine doubles, two triples and 85 total bases. She is also a perfect 12-12 in stolen bases this season. White's 182 at bats is good for the most in the Sun Belt this seaosn as well as sixth-most in a single-season in App State history.
