BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's basketball features a handful of Mountaineers playing in leagues around the world. With their season's set to wrap up, here is a closer look at how the alums are faring:
Donald Sims led San Lorenzo of the Argentinian La Liga to a 105-77 win over Ferro on Sunday. He scored 14 points, on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the free throw line, and added 5 assists in 28 minutes. San Lorenzo de Almagra (32-6) pushed its win streak to five with the win and sits in first place. With two games left in the regular season, Sims is averaging 13.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 37 games.
Andre Williamson had nine points and six rebounds to lead Fribourg Olympic (5-0) to a 90-67 win over Boncourt in the Quarterfinals of the Swiss SBL on Saturday.. Williamson has posted a solid season fro Fribourg Olympic this season, averaging 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Griffin Kinney appeared in 36 games (35 starts) for Aris Leeuwarden of the Netherlands DBL. Kinney averaged 14.6 points on 51.2% shooting and 8.0 rebounds over the season. He posted 11 double-doubles and reached double figures in scoring in 30 games, including a season-high 32 points on Nov. 24.
Isaac Butts completed his fourth season with the Aishin Sea Horses of the Japanese B League. In 45 games, he averaged a double-double with 10.1 points and 12.1 rebounds, while shooting 59.2% from the field. The Sea Horses finished 31-29 on the season, which was tied for ninth of 18 teams in the league.
