CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Appalachian State women's track & field competed at the Virginia Grand Prix on Friday and Saturday in the final meet before the Sun Belt Championships.
Kayla Carson captured the open high jump, clearing a PR height of 5-5.00 (1.65m).
Victoria Wilform finished in a tie for eighth in the event with a mark of 4-11.75 (1.52m).
Phylissa Greeley bettered her top-10 mark in program history in the 1,500-meter run. Greeley crossed sixth in the event in 4:30.94, which represents a PR and improves her standing of sixth-place in the 1,500-meter run in program history.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase saw three Mountaineers finish in the top eight.
Elisa Sargent was second with a time of 11:15.95,
Casey Turro crossed fifth in a PR time of 11:54.24 and
Katherine Fearn was eighth with a PR time of 12:33.49.
In the pole vault,
Hannah Emery finished in a tie for third with a mark of 11-9.50 (3.58m), while
Sofia San Miguel placed seventh, clearing 11-3.00 (3.43m).
Ashley Muschiatti recorded a pair of top-eight finishes and season bests in the meet. She placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 41-8.00 (12.70m) and finished eighth in the hammer with a toss of 159-10 (48.72m).
Baylee Bilyeu was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 41-1.50 (12.53m) and
Hassani Burris was eighth in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 38-3.50 (11.67m).
The Mountaineers will compete next at the Sun Belt Championships in Jonesboro, Ark. from May 10 to May 12.
