CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 
Madison McCoy, 
Elisa Sargent and 
Jelonnie Smith entered the top-10 all-time in program history to lead Appalachian State women's track & field at the Charlotte Invitational.
 
McCoy turned in a fifth place finish in the discus with a mark of 142-3 (43.35m). Her mark shattered by PR by nearly seven feet and moves into 10th place all-time in the event in program history.
Sargent, who was racing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time in her career, crossed in 11:08.89 to finish fourth overall in the event. Her time now ranks as the 10th fastest time in the event in program history.
 
Smith placed third in the 400-meter dash with a PR time of 56.03 seconds. Her time moves her into ninth-place in the event in program history.
 
Also in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, 
Izzy Evely placed sixth with a time of 11:21.72.
 
Hannah Emery turned in a season-best mark of 11-8.50 (3.57m) in the pole vault, placing second overall.
 
The 4x100-meter relay tandem of 
Samara Gibson, 
Erin Morrison, 
Jessica Dixon and Smith finished fourth in 47.42 seconds.
 
Sarah Venable posted a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 2:16.91 and 
Baylee Bilyeu finished fourth in the shot put with a PR toss of 42-2.00 (12.85m).
The Black and Gold will compete again next weekend at the Duke Invitational on Apr. 19 and Apr. 20.
