STOCKBRIDGE, GA. – Appalachian State women's golf team completed play at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate this Tuesday, finishing with a three-round score of 931, good for ninth place.
Sophomore
Abby Bolt (228) led the scoring for the App's, improving on her score each round in the three-day event. She carded a final round score of 74 that helped her place T18 individually.
"Abby played solid," head coach
Heather Brown said. "She always stays in it and grinds it out until the end."
Improvement was a theme for the Mountaineers, each round they improved by at least seven strokes off their total score. Along with Bolt, three other players posted their best score in their final round, senior
Patricia Thompson (237), junior
Melany Chong (239) and sophomore
Mogie Adamchik (241).
"We really stressed how important it was to make pars and limit big numbers," brown said about their jump in scoring.
Senior
Joliana Elias (234) also saw improvement as the tournament went on. In the second round she finished 12 strokes better than her first-round score of 85, placing her 31
st overall.
There will be one final tune up for the team next week, before the Sun Belt Championship, as they host the annual Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate Sunday and Monday.
