CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's track & field will begin the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at the 49er Classic hosted by Charlotte. Men's field events begin at noon on Friday with the long jump and at 10 a.m. with the shot put. Running events begin on Friday at 12:35 p.m. with the 110-meter hurdle and on Saturday with the 4x100-meter relay at 12:20 p.m.
THE FIELD
There will be 54 schools/running clubs participating and over 1,700 total athletes.
LAST SEASON
Last season, the Mountaineers finished fifth of 10 teams at the Sun Belt Championships with 74 points.
Elliott Graves won the 400-meter hurdles for the second straight season.
Jordan Dale and
Tristian Shaver earned all-conference honors for the Mountaineers with third place finishes in the high jump and pole vault, respectively.
RETURNERS
In all, the Black and Gold see 22 athletes return from last season's squad. Of the 22 returners, 13 scored points at last season's Sun Belt Championships, with three earning All-Sun Belt honors.
UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will compete again on Mar. 22 and Mar. 23 at the Winthrop Invitational.
