LYNCHBURG, Va. – Appalachian State women's track & field competed at the Darius Dixon Invitational, hosted by Liberty, in its final meet before the Sun Belt Championships.
The meet was unscored.
The Mountaineers took the top two spots in the 3,000-meter run.
Hana Ratcliffe won the race in 9:56.03, which is a PR and moves her into seventh place in program history in the event.
Katelyn Butler was second in the event in 9:57.99 and moved into ninth place on the all-time list in the 3,000-meter run.
Izzy Evely placed sixth and
Megan Scannell was seventh in 10:15:06 and 10:15.68, respectively.
Emily Fedders posted a season-best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:52.13, finishing first.
The Mountaineers saw three of the top eight finishers in the 800-meter run.
Phylissa Greeley was second in 2:13.18,
Kylee Frady placed fifth in 2:18.10 and
Ann Mosely Whitsett crossed eighth with a time of 2:20.67.
Hannah Emery continued her strong indoor season, setting a PR in the pole vault, clearing 12-5.00 (3.80m), which placed her fourth in the event and moved her into second place in the Sun Belt.
Elisa Sargent also set a new personal best in the 1-mile run, placing fourth in 5:00.40.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Jelonnie Smith,
Jessica Dixon,
Erin Morrison and Greeley crossed fourth with a time of 3:55.97.
Ashley Muschiatti recorded a fifth-place finish in the weight throw, covering 56-4.50 (17.18m).
App State will shift its focus to the Sun Belt Championships on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. Last season, the Black and Gold finished sixth of 12 teams.
