BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State Softball's
Jenny Dodd was named to the preseason All-Sun Belt team, the conference announced on Friday. Dodd is the first Mountaineer to earn preseason Sun Belt honors since the program joined the league in 2014.
This honor comes after a breakout junior year for Dodd as a 2018 second-team All-Sun Belt selection. With 45 starts in 47 appearances, she led the Mountaineers in six offensive categories, including batting average (.345), home runs (nine), slugging percentage (.622), walks (38) and on-base percentage (.521).
Dodd was consistently in the top 10 in the conference each week for batting average and on-base percentage during the 2018 season. Her campaign was highlighted by a doubleheader against Tennessee Tech with three total home runs on the day. She also pushed the Mountaineers to a conference victory against ULM with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
