ATLANTA, Ga. --
Emma Longley recorded her second straight double-double as Appalachian State volleyball posted its second win in as many days by a 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 26-24, 25-11) score on Saturday evening.
Longley finished with 16 kills and 10 digs, after tallying 13 kills and 16 digs in a four-set win over Georgia Southern on Friday. She now has a team-high 11 double-doubles this season.
Kara Spicer also reached double figures in kills, recording 11 on a .476 hitting percentage. She also had five digs and four blocks (two solo, two assists).
Sam Bickley dished out 39 assists, while adding five kills.
Lexi Kohut and
Amya Giger each chipped in with five kills.
Emma Reilly finished with 18 digs and
Sydney Farthing chipped in with six.
Georgia State (8-17, 4-10 SBC) opened an early 8-4 lead in the opening frame, only to see the Mountaineers counter with the next 16 points to take a 20-8 lead. The Black and Gold never looked back, taking the opening set 25-17.

The Panthers opened an 10-3 lead in the second set. App State pulled within three points at 15-12, but Georgia State built its lead back to as large as seven points and knotted the contest at a set apiece with a 25-18 victory.

App State snapped a 6-6 tie with three straight points in the early going of the third set. After Georgia State tied the score at 11-11, the Mountaineers scored three straight points again to take a 14-11 advantage. The Panthers battled back and held a set point at 24-23, but a Georgia State attack error tied the set at 24-24. The Mountaineers used a block solo from Spicer to take a 25-24 lead and got a kill from Longley to clinch the set 26-24 and take a 2-1 lead.

The Mountaineers scored the first five points of the fourth set to take an early 5-0 lead. App State continued to expand its lead and used a 4-1 spurt later in the set to open a 12-point lead at 21-9. The Black and Gold used kills from
Anna Kincaid and Longley and a service ace from Bickley to win the final three points and clinch the set and match by a 25-11 count. In all, the Black and Gold hit .650 in the fourth set, tallying 14 kills against just one error.
The Mountaineers hit .217 with 51 kills, while the Panthers hit .137 and had 45 kills.
The Mountaineers will return to the High Country for their final two matches of the regular season. On Friday, the Black and Gold will battle South Alabama at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. contest with Troy on Nov. 17 on Senior Day.
