Track & Field Announces 2019-20 Schedule

BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's and women's track & field head coach Damion McLean has announced the track & field schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 indoor season and 2020 outdoor season.

The indoor season features eight meets leading up to the Sun Belt Championships and NCAA Championships. The outdoor season also features eight meets leading up to the Sun Belt Championship, NCAA East Regionals and NCAA Championships.

The indoor season officially begins on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 with the Appalachian Open in the Holmes Center. App State will compete three times in January at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational (Jan. 10-11), the Hokie Invitational (Jan. 17-18) and the VMI Team Challenge (Jan. 25).

The Mountaineers make a return trip to Johnson City for the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. On Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, the Black and Gold will send a small group to compete in at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic and another group to the South Carolina Invitational. App State will also compete at the JDL Team Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Feb. 13.

The Sun Belt Indoor Championships take place on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 in Birmingham, Ala. The indoor season concludes on Mar. 13 and Mar. 14 with the NCAA Championships.

App State gets rolling with the outdoor season with a pair of meets during the first weekend, competing at the 49er Classic (Mar. 19-21) and the Bob Davidson Memorial (Mar. 20-21). The Mountaineers will split up again the next weekend and compete at both the ADIDAS/Winthrop Invitational (Mar. 27-28) and the Raleigh Relays (Mar. 27-28).

The Black and Gold compete four more times at the Pepsi Florida Relays (April 3-4), the Gamecock Invitational (April 11), the Catamount Classic (April 17-18) and the Virginia Grand Prix (April 24-25) in preparation for the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships from May 8-10 in Lafayette, La.

App State will compete on May 17 at the Aggie Classic Twilight, before heading to the NCAA East Regionals in Lexington, Ky. from May 28-30 and the NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 10-13.
