Men's Basketball Welcomes ECU to Holmes Center on Tuesday

BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's basketball plays it second straight home game, welcoming East Carolina to the Holmes Center on Tuesday evening. Tip is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. App State men's basketball would like to thank AutoStar Nissan as its season sponsor.

TICKETS
Season tickets and single game tickets for the 2019-20 season are on sale and can be purchased by calling the App State ticket office at 828-262-2079.

TRIVIA TUESDAY
Trivia Tuesday will take place throughout the game on Tuesday, with free food and prizes for individuals or teams that register. In addition, the first 100 App State students through the door will get a free App State t-shirt.

ALCOHOL
Plans for alcohol sales at select men's and women's 2019-20 home games include:
  • Craft beer, domestic beer and wine will be sold on the concourse near Section 12.
  • Service begins when doors open one hour prior to tipoff and ends at the conclusion of the third quarter for women's games and at the under 12:00 media timeout of the second half for men's games.
  • All patrons will be required to produce valid identification, which will be checked at the point of sale during each transaction.
  • Per state law, patrons 21 years of age or older will be permitted to purchase a maximum of one alcoholic beverage per transaction with valid identification.
  • Patrons will not be permitted to leave the Holmes Convocation Center with alcohol purchased within the venue.
  • Law enforcement and contracted security staff will monitor the concourse and seating areas for underage drinking, beverage pass-offs and problematic patrons or situations.
  • Public service announcements about drinking responsibly will be shown on the video board and announced via the arena's public address system.
  • Sales will occur at the following men's and women's basketball games throughout the 2019-20 season:
    • Nov. 12 vs. East Carolina (men)
    • Nov. 21 vs. Charlotte (men)
    • Jan. 4 vs. Georgia Southern (men)
    • Jan. 11 vs. Texas State (women)
    • Jan. 18 vs. Coastal Carolina (women) / Little Rock (men)
    • Feb. 1 vs. Georgia Southern (women)
    • Feb. 8 vs. Texas State (men)
    • Feb. 15 vs. Troy (women)
    • Feb. 22 vs. Troy (men)
    • Feb. 29 vs. ULM (women) / Coastal Carolina (men)
THE SERIES
  • This will be the 64th all-time meeting between the two schools
  • East Carolina won last season's contest in Greenville 83-81 and holds a 36-27 edge in the all-time series
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • Appalachian State topped Ferrum 83-56 on Thursday, giving head coach Dustin Kerns his first victory at the helm of the Mountaineers.
  • Justin Forrest (17), Isaac Johnson (15), O'Showen Williams (13), Donovan Gregory (10) and James Lewis Jr. (10) all reached double figures in the win for App State
  • Through the first week of the season, Forrest is one of seven players in the Sun Belt to be averaging at least 20 points per game, at 22.0 points, which sits second in the league.
  • Johnson is also averaging double figure scoring for the Mountaineers at 12.0 points and is tops on the team in rebounding at 8.0 rebounds
  • Through its first two games, the Black and Gold have held opponents to .270 shooting on three-pointers, which ranks fourth in the conference
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
  • East Carolina dropped a 62-57 decision at Navy in the Veterans Classic on Friday evening
  • Jayden Gardner tallied a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds. Seth LeDay added 11 points and J.J. Miles had 10 points for the Pirates
  • Through two games, Gardner is averaging a near double-double, with team highs of 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. Gardner is also shooting a team-best 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field and 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line
UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will play in the Spartan Invitational, hosted by UNC Greensboro, this weekend. App State will take on Montana State on Friday at 4:30, followed by a 3:30 p.m. meeting with Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Both contests will be played in Fleming Gymnasium on the campus of UNC Greensboro. The Mountaineers then close play at the tournament on Nov. 18 against the host Spartans at 7 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum.
