MOBILE, Ala. - App State women's soccer suffered a 1-0 decision to South Alabama on Friday evening in Mobile, Ala.
The Mountaineers fall to 5-9-3 (2-5-2 SBC) while South Alabama moves to 13-3-2 (8-1-1 SBC).
App State gave the hosts everything it had, but couldn't find the back of the net on a night where it attempted two shots on goal and six shots overall.
Kristin Brown looked to get the Apps on the board in the first 10 minutes of the game with a shot on goal. However, the shot was saved by Laurie Graves.
The game was scoreless until the 29th minute when Briana Morris scored to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead.
Kerry Eagleston had a career night, facing 13 shots with a personal-best 12 saves. The freshman helped App keep within striking distance as the Sun Belt's top offense didn't score the rest of the contest.
The Winston-Salem, N.C. stopped the next 10 South Alabama shots over the final 61 minutes of the match. Her 12 stops are the most for a Mountaineer since Megan Roberson made 15 saves in 2012 against Samford.
Kirsten Seeley had the Apps' other shot on goal with a strike to the top left of the goal. Justice Sanford kept the score in the Jaguars' favor with the save in the 50th minute of the game.
Ava Dawson led the team with two shot attempts, while
Kyndall Edwards and
Tess Cairney tallied a shot.
Appalachian will conclude the regular season on Sunday against Georgia State at 1 p.m. in Atlanta.
