BOONE, N.C. - App State men's tennis seniors Milo Bargeron and Alex Pavkovich highlighted the weekend at ITA Regionals hosted by Duke in Cary, N.C.
Bargeron and Pavkovich each picked up wins over the weekend, with Bargeron tallying a victory in the first round of the tournament and Pavkovich advancing to the Round of 32 in the consolation draw. The
senior tandem also collected a win in the first round of the main doubles draw.
The senior from England defeated Brooks Green of Davidson in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-4 to advance to the second round. Bargeron fell to
North Carolina's Simon Soendergaard, who came into the tournament seeded 11th overall.
After falling in his first contest, Pavkovich earned a Power Five win over Clemson's Jaxson Wiley in a come-from-behind victory. Pavkovich
won the second set 6-3 before winning the tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-8). He would fall in the next round to another Clemson opponent in Mike Agee.
In doubles, Bargeron/Pavkovich dealt Connor Williamson/Abhimanyu Vannemreddy of Winthrop an 8-2 defeat in the first round. The pairing would go on to face
the No. 1 overall seed of Raphael Lambling/Daniel Rodrigues, falling 8-2.
Also participating in regionals were Matvey Radionov and Alessio Azzalini.
The Apps return to action next weekend at the Furman Duals in Greenville, S.C.
