LEXINGTON, Va. -- Appalachian State women's track & field won five events en route to the team title at the VMI Team Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers finished with 172 points. Western Carolina was second with 116 points and East Tennessee State took third with 82 points.
Jelonnie Smith crossed the tape first in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time of 58.24 seconds. 
Jessica Dixon was third with a season-best time of 57.94 seconds and 
Erin Morrison was fourth with a time of 58.23 seconds. Smith's 400-meter time ranks fifth all-time in program history.
Smith also took first in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 25.14 seconds.
Megan Scannell captured the 5,000-meter run in a season-best time of 18:08.57. 
Sarah Hajnos was right behind in second place in 18:33.12 and 
Samantha Kolor placed third with a time of 18:53.96.
 
The Mountaineers also saw three place in the top-five in the one-mile run. 
Hana Ratcliffe recorded a first-place finish in 5:03.74 and 
Elisa Sargent was second with a time of 5:08.29. 
Izzy Evely notched a fourth-place finish with a time of 5:18.54.
 
In the pole vault, 
Hannah Emery claimed the top spot, clearing 11-11.75. 
Lainey Hunnicutt placed fourth in the event with a mark of 11-5.75.
Ashley Muschiatti claimed two top-five finishes on the day, placing second in the weight throw with a toss of 57-5.00 and taking fourth in the shot put with a mark of 42-9.75. Her mark in the weight throw ranks eighth in program history.
Victoria Wilform claimed second in the high jump, clearing 5-3.00, while 
Katelyn Butler placed second and 
Emily Fedders was fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:09.71 and 10:29.40, respectively.
The 4x400-meter relay tandem of 
Araybian Lilly, Dixon, Morrison and Smith finished second at 3:58.73.
In the 800-meter run, 
Phylissa Greeley was second in 2:14.46, 
Kylee Frady was third with a time of 2:19.42 and 
Ann Mosely Whitsett crossed fifth in 2:20.54.
Appalachian State will return to action next weekend at the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational on Feb. 1 and Feb. 2.
