BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State University field hockey (4-6, 0-2 MAC) suffered a 4-0 setback to a talented Louisville (7-3) team Sunday at Adcock Field.
The Cardinals never trailed, opening the scoring only 30 seconds into the game. Erica Cooper netted all four of Louisville's goals, raising her season total from two before Sunday's game to six.
Sophomore
Annette Jarosz made one of the highlights for the Mountaineers, making a defensive save in the second half. Jarosz widened her team lead in defensive saves to three on the season.

Chloe Bell and
Veerle Van Heertum both recorded a pair of shots. Juniors
Kaley Selner and
Ali Williams rounded out the Mountaineers' shot total with one shot apiece.
Two goalkeepers split time in the cage for Appalachian. Junior
Rachel Gaines started the first half and recorded a save. Redshirt-freshman
Madison Nuckols started in net in the second half, making four saves while allowing only one goal.
The team also celebrated 50 years of women's sports on Sunday, specifically 50 years of the field hockey program, which was the first women's sport at Appalachian.
"It was one of the best feelings in the world to be surrounded by so many alumni today," head coach
Meghan Dawson said. "All of them have paved the way for myself, our staff and our student-athletes to be able to perform each day and have one of the best experiences possible. Without their sacrifices, we wouldn't be where we are today."
The Mountaineers will return to MAC conference play Friday at Adcock Field when they host Ball State at 3 p.m.
