Moore Among Nation's Most 'Freakish Athletes'

BOONE, N.C. — NFL.com's list of "college football's most freakish athletes" for 2018 includes Appalachian State running back Jalin Moore.

Ranked No. 9 on the 18-player list, Moore is the highest-ranked running back to receive recognition, as he's joined by Oklahoma's Rodney Anderson (No. 13) and Utah State's Darwin Thompson (No. 17). Moore was one of just three players from a Group of Five program to make the list.

His entry on NFL.com says, "One of the most accomplished running backs in the country, Moore packs incredible strength and speed into a compact, 5-11, 207-pound frame. He can squat 650, clean 350, and run the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds. His explosiveness (38.5-inch vertical jump, 11-1 broad jump) should rate very high among running backs in next year's draft. The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year aims for his third consecutive season of 1,000-plus yards this fall."

Moore is one of six FBS players entering 2018 with back-to-back seasons of 1,000 rushing yards, and he's the only active FBS back who's rushed for at least 235 yards in four career games.

Appalachian State opens the 2018 season with a game at nationally ranked Penn State on Sept. 1.
