Are you alumni of Appalachian State University? If so what year did you graduate?
"Yes, Carla and I are alumni — Chris (1980), Carla (1981)."
What made you become an Appalachian State Mountaineer fan?
"Never stopped being a fan since coming to Appalachian in the 1970s. However, in 2011, our son, Baker Loy (2015), became a freshman at Appalachian. That event elevated our interest in becoming more active once we started making more frequent trips to campus. The tailgate experience also had a huge impact on us and our desire to reconnect with alumni and old friends."
What is your favorite memory of Appalachian State Athletics?
"For me, it was the first National Championship victory in 2005. At that point, I began to truly feel App State Football was special and our program was moving to the next level."
In your opinion, what is the best part of a home football game at Appalachian State on a fall Saturday?
"Tailgating with my family and friends and enjoying the atmosphere."
What makes you most proud of Appalachian State?
"We have a tremendously dedicated and talented athletic department that strives for excellence on and off the field. Since joining the Sun Belt Conference, we continue to make adjustments to improve our facilities and provide our student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful during their collegiate years and beyond."
What made you decide to start supporting the education of current Appalachian State student-athletes through the Yosef Club?
"Understanding that many young people simply do not have the resources to support a college education but have the desire to achieve. Our donations directly impact the lives of these individuals and help toward the development of future leaders. Carla and I have always valued our college experience and want to do our part to ensure others have that same opportunity."
What advice would you give to other members of the App State family who are wondering what they can do to help the Yosef Club and Appalachian State athletics as a whole?
"My greatest regret was not being part of the Yosef Club immediately following our graduation. Our challenge to anyone that is an alumni or fan is to join Yosef now. Great things are on the horizon for our program, so come be a part of the excitement and fun that is Appalachian State Athletics. No donation is too small."
