Last Time Out
The Mountaineers improved to 5-0 at home after an impressive 94-70 win over Wofford on Monday. It's the first time the Apps finished undefeated at home in non-conference play since 2012-13, while it guaranteed the first winning mark in non-conference action
during the
Angel Elderkin era.
Madi Story led three players in double figures with a season-high 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting in just 28 minutes. Story's second 3-pointer with 16 seconds left in the third quarter gave her 1,001-career points, making her the 25th player in program history to reach the milestone.
Pre Stanley had her best performance of the season, shooting 7-of-12 en route to a season-best 18 points and seven boards.
Lainey Gosnell posted her first career double-double with 12 points and a personal-high 11 rebounds.
Story is Scoring
Over the past six games, the redshirt senior is averaging 16.3 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting, 36.8 shooting from the field and 88.5 percent shooting from the free throw line. The Maiden, N.C. native has two, 20-point performances during the stretch.
From Down Under
Nicola Mathews has become the most effective 3-point shooter on the Mountaineers. Her 54.2 percent clip is first in the Sun Belt. Mathews had her best all-around performance against Wofford, turning in nine points, four rebounds and three assists, which both were season highs. The Adelaide, Australia native has made at least one 3-pointer in eight straight games and multiple trifectas in three contests. Appalachian is 3-0 when she hits more than one 3-pointer. Mathews is second in the Sun Belt in effective field goal percentage at 66.2 percent and fifth in true shooting percentage with 67.4 percent.
Crashing the Glass
The Mountaineers have done a stellar job on the glass, as they're plus-5.1 rebounding margin is fourth in the conference. Last season, the rebounding margin for Appalachian was minus-2.4 through the first 10 games. App is first in the league in defensive rebounding percentage (.735), defensive rebounds per game (28.3), third in rebounds per game (43.5), third in offensive rebounds per game (15.2), fifth in offensive rebound percentage (.350) and fifth in rebound margin. App has won the battle on the glass in eight of 10 contests this season.
A Win Would
• Improve its record to 7-4 and move to 2-4 on the road.
• Tie for the most non-conference wins since 2012-13 and record the most non-conference victories since 2011-12.
• Notch its first Power Five victory since defeating NC State in the WNIT in 2012.

• Clemson is off to an 8-4 start in Amanda Butler's first season at the helm.
• The Tigers have beaten teams such as Oklahoma and Illinois.
• The Tigers most recently defeated Marshall on Tuesday, 68-54.
• Kobi Thornton led the team in scoring with 18 points, while Tylar Bennett corralled a game-high 10 rebounds.
• Clemson has been a strong out at home with a 7-1 record with the lone loss coming to Davidson.
• Three players are averaging double figures with Thornton turning in 16.9 points on 51.8 percent shooting. She also leads the team in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and blocked shots with 13.
• Clemson is 9th in the country in steals with 131 and 28th in steals per game.
• Danielle Edwards is sixth in the country in steals (36) and Simone Westbrook is 16th with 33.
• Clemson is the fastest team in the ACC with a pace of 79.6.
Series History
Appalachian is 1-5 all-time against Clemson. The Mountaineers won the previous matchup, 67-62, on Clemson's home floor on Nov. 21, 2004.
