THE SERIES
- App State has won three of the last four meetings with the Red Wolves and lead the all-time series 5-3.
- The two teams split the season series last year, with each team scoring a victory on their home floor.
LAST TIME OUT
- Behind a strong defensive effort and rebounding, Appalachian State defeated Little Rock 72-67 in overtime on Thursday.
- After the Trojans shot 43.3 percent (13-of-30) in the first half, App State limited Little Rock to a combined 28.6 percent (10-of-35) in the second half and overtime. For the game, Little Rock shot 35.9 percent (23-of-65).
- In addition, the Mountaineers held a 54-43 edge in rebounding, including a 19-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
- The Mountaineer bench provided a key scoring boost with 13 points coming from O'Showen Williams, six from Craig Hinton and five from Hunter Seacat.
- Griffin Kinney tallied his second consecutive double-double with 10 points (all in the second half) and 12 rebounds.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- The victory over Little Rock improved the Mountaineers record to 9-13 on the season and 4-5 in the Sun Belt.
- The Apps' 54 rebounds in Thursday's win was tied for their second highest amount of the season (also had 54 against Bridgewater). The Black and Gold have recorded 50 or more rebounds in four contests this season.
- App State has now pulled down 887 total rebounds this season, which leads the Sun Belt and is ninth most in the nation. In addition, the Mountaineers are averaging 40.3 rpg, which sits atop the conference and 17th in the country.
- O'Showen Williams has reached double figures in scoring in his last three games and is averaging 12.0 ppg on 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) shooting and a 7-of-14 (50.0 percent) mark on three-pointers, 4.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals.
- After a 11-rebound performance on Thursday, Isaac Johnson has now recorded double digit rebounds in eight games this season. He has recorded six or more rebounds in his last five contests.
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
- Arkansas State fell at Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening 62-47.
- Tristin Walley led the Red Wolves with 13 points, while Grantham Gillard had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Ty Cockfield also reached double figures with 10 points.
- Deven Simms leads the team in scoring (16.0 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg) and steals (25).
- Cockfield (13.1 ppg) and Gillard (10.1 ppg) are also averaging double figures for Arkansas State.
