BOONE, N.C. –– Appalachian State University women's soccer (0-3-2) drew to a 1-1 tie against UNCG (1-3-1) on Friday evening at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
Each team during the match was on target with their shot attempts, as a combined 15-of-30 shots were near the frame. Appalachian shot a season-high seven shots on goal in the third-straight contest the match has resulted in overtime.
Both goals scored were in the second frame with
Ava Dawson earning her first-career goal that just broke the 60-minute mark to give App a 1-0 lead.
Twelve minutes later, the Spartans tied things up as Hita Quiqui would score her first goal of the season as well to push the score at 1-apiece. The Mountaineers had three more opportunities by
Erin Settle including an attempt with six seconds left in regulation but Tyler Cooper came up with the save.
Settle attempted four shots on goal to lead the team while
Emmily Cowie and
Lindsey Tully also had an attempt at the net.
Lauren Burke played all 110 minutes en route to an already career-high seven saves. Both goalkeepers ended with 13 saves when the match was said and done.
Appalachian will travel to Lubbock, Texas still in search of its first win against Texas Tech at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
