MUNCIE, Ind. –– Appalachian State University women's soccer (0-2-1) ended in a 1-1 draw against Ball State (1-2-1) on Sunday afternoon at the BSU Soccer Field in Muncie, Ind.
It was an solid performance against a Ball State team that won the Mid-American Regular Season title the last two seasons and owned a 16-0-3 record on its home turf the past two years.
For the second-straight contest, the Apps held their opponent scoreless in the first half as both teams went into the second period tied at zeroes.

Maggie Hanusek from 15 yards out to give App the 1-0 lead. The score for Hanusek was the first of the season for the sophomore and third of her career, while it was Settle's first assist of 2017.
App would keep the Ball State offense at bay until the Cardinals' Emily Scott tied the match up from inside the 18-yard box. Both teams had an opportunity to take the lead, including a shot from
Morgan Mosack that was on target but just missed.
Appalachian had another shot to take the lead in the first overtime period when
Abbey Rand mustered up an attempt at the frame before Tristin Stuteville came away with the save.
Neither team came up with another shot on goal the rest of the way, leading to the draw.
Five of the seven shots attempted by App State were on target, while BSU registered three shots on goal.
Taylor Ray got the nod between the posts while playing all 110 minutes which was a career high, surpassing her previous best of 106 from last season against Gardner-Webb.
App State is still in search of its first win and will have a shot against Northern Kentucky on the road to close out the swing on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
