App State Reels in Multiple NFHCA Academic Honors

CHANDLER, ARIZ. - Appalachian State University field hockey earned multiple National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Academic Awards for their hard work in the classroom during the 2016 fall season.

On March 8, App State was one of over 70 schools to earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Honors. In order to receive this distinction, teams have to achieve a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher during the fall semester and the Mountaineers wrapped up the fall acquiring a 3.34 team GPA.

For the individual honors, 13 Mountaineers were tabbed to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad for earning a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and Rachel Gaines, Melissa Nobile and Ali Williams grabbed the Scholar of Distinction Award for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher for the 2016 fall semester.
