App State competed against No. 6 NC State last Sunday in Varsity Gym, picked up a win at 174 pounds from 20th-ranked senior
Forrest Przybysz (11-4) and suffered one loss by more than three points in the first six completed matches.
Przybysz's 10-4 victory helped him win the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week award for the second time this season, and he'll likely face 11th-ranked Oklahoma senior Yoanse Mejias (14-4) on Sunday.
It's the home opener for the Sooners, who have also wrestled against NC State this season. Oklahoma lost 27-13 while participating in the Journeymen Northeast Duals on Nov. 11 in Clifton Park, N.Y.
The Sooners, who shut out Sacred Heart and lost 22-9 to No. 12 Rutgers on the same day, posted their victories against NC State at 125 pounds (17th-ranked Christian Moody in an 11-5 decision against Tommy Cox), 133 pounds (Jacob Rubio in a 12-2 major decision against Jamel Morris, who didn't wrestle against App State), 149 pounds (Davion Jeffries in a 10-5 decision against Sam Melikian, who didn't wrestle against App State) and 174 (Mejias in an 8-6 decision against Daniel Bullard).
Oklahoma's projected lineup has four seniors, two juniors, one sophomore, one redshirt freshman and two true freshmen. App State's has one senior, two juniors, three sophomores, three redshirt freshmen and one true freshman
App State is 0-2 against Oklahoma with losses in 2008-09 and 2011-12.
