BURLINGTON, N.C. - A strong showing from the App State Men's golf team lands them a T-4 finish at the Phoenix Invitational before heading into their fall season finale.
App cracked the top-five out of the 16 team field by scoring an 855 (291, 277, 287) +3 after three rounds. Finding themselves in eighth place after a first round 291, they fired a 277 (-7) in their second round led by Alex Burris who finished the tournament at -5 giving him T-6 with all-scorers.
Burris was the only Mountaineer that finished under-par for the event, coming back from a first round 73 (+2) and ending strong with two rounds under-par at -7.
The Apps saw three other members post a score in the red numbers. Chance Watson, Chandler Rice and Tripp Summerlin all shot a 69 in their three days, the only other rounds under-par for the team besides Burris.
The Mountaineers will be rounding out their fall slate with a trip to Florida in the FGCU Classic Oct. 29-30.
