Women's Tennis Faces NC State, Campbell in Raleigh

BOONE, N.C. - The Blake Mosley Era is underway as Appalachian State University women's tennis will start the spring slate on the road in Raleigh against NC State and Campbell at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

Mosley is coaching in his first spring match for App after a fall season and arriving to Boone after being at Colorado as an assistant and associate head coach for the Buffaloes.

The Mountaineers return a bevy of players from last season's squad, including three of the top four singles wins leaders in Gabrielle Wreder (7), Melissa Machado (7) and Heidi Swope (6). Appalachian also returns its doubles' wins leader in Taylor Bygrave, who won a combined eight matches with two different partners, including a 5-3 mark with Megan Mullen

Every student-athlete that returns does have tennis experience. Rebecca Morse and McKayla Zupan won four and two matches, respectively in singles action, while Machado and Wreder partnered up in three doubles contests for a 2-1 mark. 

Scouting NC State 

The Wolfpack finished 15-12 last season with a 6-8 mark in ACC play. NC State boasted a 9-4 mark at home, while recording a win in the ACC Tournament and a berth in the NCAA Championships before falling to Arizona State in the first round. NC State returns two of its singles players in Martina Frantova and Amanda Rebol. Frantova heads into the season as the 36th-ranked student-athlete in the ITA Oracle Rankings. 

Scouting Campbell

Campbell went 11-9 last season while falling in the quarterfinals in the Big South Tournament. Georgina Segarra is the returning singles wins leader at 13 after Iri Karangozishvili turned in 21 wins in her last season. Isabel Boada and Segarra led the team in doubles wins with eight.
