BOONE, N.C. - In its final meet before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, Appalachian State University men's track and field hosted the App State Pre-Conference Open in both Varsity Gym and the Holmes Center on Friday.
The Mountaineers won two events and placed in the top five a total of seven times.
Marshall McRae took first in the 55 with a time of 6.45 and Ian Milder turned in the fastest time for the 800 at 1:58.24. The five other top-five finishers included Brandon Smith in the 55-meter hurdles (second/7.85), Russell Price in the 55-meter dash (second/6.56), Xzavier Robinson in the high jump (third/6-2), Andrew Spear in the 55-meter hurdles (fourth/7.96), and Spear in the 400-meter dash (fourth/51.02).
As mentioned above, next up for the Mountaineers is the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, which will be Monday and Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala. at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
