Appalachian State University men's basketball will host Warren Wilson College on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The game will serve as the Mountaineers' 2016-17 home opener after playing their first two games on the road.
Thursday's contest can be heard live locally on WATA 1450 AM in Boone and Blowing Rock. It will also be carried on Appalachian State's flagship station, WKBC 97.3 FM, as well as, WZGV 730 AM, WCOG 1320 AM, and online/worldwide on appstatesports.com and via the TuneIn app.
THE LAST TIME OUT
• Appalachian State dropped it second-straight road game on Tuesday night in Knoxville to Tennessee, 103-94.
• After taking a 7-3 lead in the early going, the Mountaineers encountered a 21-0 Volunteer run. The Apps trailed by as many as 26 points in the opening half (42-16).
• Despite trailing big, the Mountaineers closed the half on a 22-8 run to cut the deficit to just 12 points at the break (50-38).
• In the second half, the Mountaineers deficit would balloon to as many as 23 points.
• The Mountaineers would make things interesting with a 23-7 run down 92-69 with just 6:28 left in the game.
• One of Patrick Good's five 3-pointers would cut the Volunteer lead to just seven points.
• Both Ronshad Shabazz and Good scored 21 points in their last game at Tennessee. That total was a career high for Good.
• Good finished with a career-high 21 points and shot 8-for-10 from the floor, including a 5-for-7 night from 3-point range.
• The point total for Shabazz was his seventh 20-point game of his career.
• Kelvin Robinson's 12-point effort at Tennessee was a career high for the freshman.
• Griffin Kinney has scored in double-figures in consecutive games for the first time in his career. He also averages a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game.
• In their first two games, the Mountaineers have reached the foul line 30+ times in back-to-back games for the first time since February 2014.
• Tuesday night in Knoxville served as the first game the Mountaineers have boasted two 20-point scorers since Jan. 25, 2016 against Georgia Southern.
