Appalachian State University volleyball will close its non-conference schedule with a match against former Southern Conference rival and in-state foe Western Carolina on Tuesday. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. from the Holmes Center.
All-time against the Catamounts, the Mountaineers hold a 48-29 overall record. The last time that both programs matched up wast Oct. 27, 2013 when the Catamounts trekked to Boone and were swept in straight-sets.

Paige Brown was recently named Sun Belt Setter of the Week for the third consecutive week on Monday. It marks the ninth time in her career that Brown has been named Setter of the Week.
NATIONAL LANDSCAPE:
Paige Brown is currently 6th in the nation in assists per set (11.64) and 9th in total assists (454), while Jess Keller is 11th in total kills (172) and 21th in kills per set (4.27).
HOME SWEET HOME:
Dating back to the 2013 season, Appalachian State is 28-8 at the Holmes Center –good for a .778 winning percentage.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE CLUB:
Thus far in 2015, senior setter Paige Brown has posted five double-doubles. The 2015 Preseason Setter of the Year accomplished the feat in back-to-back matches at the Big Orange Bash (Aug. 28-29). Brown tallied 52 assists and 16 digs in a 3-1 loss to UNC Wilmington, while posting 42 assists and 11 digs in a sweep of Clemson.
Brown collected a season-high 59 assists and also recorded 13 digs in a five-set loss to Virginia. In the same match, senior outside hitter Emily Corrigan also recorded a double-double (her first of the season) with 22 kills and 15 digs.
Most recently Brown tallied a 55 assist/12 dig game in a five-set loss to Missouri, while posting a 54 assists/20 dig performance in a five-set thrilling win over Liberty at the Appalachian Invitational. Corrgian recorded her second with a 22 kill/17 dig match against Liberty.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP:
So far in 2015, both Jess Keller (172, 4.41) and Emily Corrigan (123, 3.15) are currently top two on the team in kills and kills per set, while senior setter Paige Brown is far and away the assist leader for the Mountaineers (454).
Meanwhile, senior libero Meghan Mahoney is leading the squad with 183 digs on the year.
CHASING HISTORY:
Senior Emily Corrigan came into the 2015 season with 988 career kills. After four matches, the senior cracked the 1,000 kill club and currently has tallied 1,101 career kills. That total is just 30 kills behind 10th all-time.
Senior Paige Brown entered this season with 3,143 career assists. This season, Brown has recorded 454 assists – bumping her career total to 3,597. That tally is currently good for fourth all-time in program history.
On the defensive side, senior libero Meghan Mahoney has tallied 183 total digs on the year. Entering 2015, Mahoney had recorded 1,329 career digs, which was good for fifth to begin the year. With 183 digs, Mahoney has vaulted from fifth to fourth all-time in program history and remains 422 digs away from tying Courtney Rhein for the all-time program record of 1,869 career digs.
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA:
The Catamounts enter the weekend with a 5-6 overall record. WCU last participated in the East Carolina Invitational last weekend and finished 2-1 with wins over ECU (3-1) and Hampton (3-0), while dropping its only match to William & Mary (3-2).
Leading the Catamonts on offense is Jo-Leigh Vervelde with 109 kills and 2.72 kills per set. Cristina Nazario paces the WCU offense with 210 assists on the year - good for 5.00 assists per set. Elyssa Mulheron has recorded an impressive 190 digs so far this season, which equates to 4.52 digs per set.
