NEW ORLEANS – For the third consecutive time this season and ninth time in her career, Appalachian State University volleyball senior setter Paige Brown was named Sun Belt Setter of the Week, voted on by the league's coaches and announced by the league office on Monday.
"Paige had another great weekend running our offense," said head coach Matt Ginipro. "She keeps getting better and better as the season goes and is the reason our offense is performing so well. Hopefully, these press releases will be a weekly thing."
Brown tallied 144 assists last week to help lead App State to a 2-1 finish at the Appalachian Invitational last weekend. The senior posted 55 assists and 12 digs for her fourth double-double in five-set loss to undefeated Missouri.
Then, in a five-set thrilling victory over Liberty, Brown tallied 54 assists and 20 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. She rounded out the weekend with a 35 assist performance in a straight-set sweep of the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday evening.
For the season, Brown leads the Sun Belt in assists per set (11.64) and total assists (454), while ranking sixth and ninth nationally in both categories, respectively.
For her career, Brown now has 3,597 total assists and remains just 892 away from sole possession as the all-time assist leader in program history.
Brown and the Mountaineers will return to action on Tuesday, September 15 when they host Western Carolina for their last non-conference match of the season before Sun Belt play begins this upcoming weekend. First serve against the Catamounts is slated for 6:30 p.m. from the Holmes Center.
