Volleyball Home Games Will Be Delivered on ESPN3

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University volleyball's 2015 home matches, with the exception of its home tournament (Sept. 11-12) will be delivered on ESPN3, Appalachian State University, the Sun Belt Conference and ESPN announced on Tuesday.

ESPN3, ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, is available in approximately 99 million homes nationwide as well as to 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel. It is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. An affiliated internet or video provider is required for access to ESPN3.

"I'm ecstatic that our home matches will be on ESPN3. It's a huge boost for our program to be able to play in front of a larger fan base," said head coach Matt Ginipro. "It will also allow for more of our recruits from across the country to see us in action. This is a great thing for App State volleyball and I thank everyone involved for making it happen."

The school produced events will be carried on ESPN3 through a collaboration between the Sun Belt Conference and ESPN. As part of the agreement, Sun Belt members and their academic programs will offer students hands-on experience in delivering high quality productions that will be featured on ESPN3 throughout the year.

On the call for the Black and Gold this season are Kendall Lewis and Rebecca Woolard. Lewis graduated from the Carolina School of Broadcasting in 2013. He had internships with Gary Hahn and the NC State Wolfpack Sports Network and also with Matt Swierad and the Charlotte Knights Baseball Network. The Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Chicago White Sox.

During the summer of 2014, he broadcasted games for the Asheboro Copperheads – a collegiate summer league baseball team. For the past two years he has handled play-by-play duties for men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's volleyball and lacrosse at Pfeiffer University.

Woolard, formally Rebecca King, will serve as the color analyst for Mountaineer volleyball during the upcoming 2015 season. Woolard was a four-year member of the Mars Hill University volleyball team (2002-05).

The Apps' home opener is set for Tuesday, Sept. 1 against Gardner-Webb at 6:30 p.m. from the Holmes Center.
