Men's Track Has Successful Day at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's track and field had several athletes earn new personal bests as they wrapped up the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday.

In the field events Henry Bustle took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 23-8.75 for a new personal best. Bustle recorded another personal best when he placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 48-0.

MyQuon Stout placed third and Nathan Milch placed fourth in the discus throw, recording throws of 150-11 and 149-8. 

Matt Layne and Patrick Quinn tied for first in the pole vault. They each recorded a height of 15-3. It was a personal best for Layne. 

Ryan Hastings placed third in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.30 for a new personal best.

Stanley Broaden took the title in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.39. Broaden then placed first again when he competed in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 51.58. This was a new personal best and will rank third all-time in the App State record books.

The Mountaineers earned second and third place in the 100m dash as William Buckley and Marshall McRae tallied times of 10.62 and 10.74. Buckley then took first in the 200m dash with a time of 21.36.

App State's 4x400m relay team of Josh Hanna, Raphael Rojas, Broaden and Hastings took first-place, posting a time of 3:14.25.

The Mountaineers will return to action when they travel to the Penn Relays next week.
