BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field completed the App State Open on Friday evening. The Mountaineers earned five top-two finishes on the day.
In the pole vault, Phillip Thomas and Patrick Quinn finished in first and second, respectively. Thomas cleared 15-7.25 feet, while Quinn cleared 15-3.50 feet.
Mason Lasater took second in the weight throw with a season-best throw of 52-0.00 feet. Cole Finch took first in the high jump and cleared a season-best 6-4.00 feet.
In the 800 meter run, Peter Ovendorf ran a season-best time of 1:57.81 and finished in second. Evan Georges ran a personal-best time of 1:59.21 and took third.
Evan Wright finished fifth in the 55 meter hurdles and ran a time of 8.32. In the 55 meter dash, Jesse Earnhardt finished in ninth with a time of 6.78.
The Mountaineers will return to action next week on Monday, Feb. 23 when they go to the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Mobile, Ala. The meet will span both Monday and Tuesday.
