About the Mountaineers

Last Time Out
For the first time since Nov. 21, 2011 (W:89-65 vs. ETSU), the Apps had five players in double figures en route to a season-high 73 points on 46.3 percent shooting, which was a season best. KeKe Cooper scored a season-high 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting while Kaila Craven came off the bench to tie a team-high with 13 points. Mia Marshall turned in a career-high 12 points and 10 boards for her second double-double of the season. After not having a double-double in her first 61 games, Marshall now has two in the last six contests.

Moving the Ball
Over the past four games, App State has averaged 11.75 assists per game, compared to the eight helpers per contest over the first four games of the season.

Craven Scoring at Will
The start of December has been kind to Craven, as she is leading the team averaging 14.6 points per game off the bench. Craven was averaging just 6.6 in the month of September.

Apps in the Sun Belt
Three players rank in the top 10 in several categories in the Sun Belt.  Ashely Bassett-Smith ranks sixth in the league in free throw percentage at a 76.2 clip while also ranking seventh in blocks (1.1). Marshall is second in rebounds (8.1), third in blocked shots (1.8) and ninth in steals (2.0), while Cooper ranks fourth in swats (1.4), fourth in rebounding (7.4) and second in field goal percentage (60.5)

What to Watch for versus Furman

-  The Apps are averaging 24.1 free throws per game this season while opponents are outshooting the Paladins 16-12 at the free throw line. Furman is also fouling opponents at a higher pace than the opposition. See if Appalachian can stay agressive and get to the line after going 19-for-26 against Richmond.

- Appalachian continues to share the ball after five players scored in double figures and dishing 11 assists. In the Apps' two victories, they've averaged 11.5 assists per game. Anticipate the Apps to keep that trend going against Furman.

- Watch if the Apps continue to dominate the boards against Furman, as the Paladins' minus-7.1 rebounding margin ranks last in the SoCon. Appalachian's  plus-5.5 rebounding margin tops the Sun Belt as well ranking first in offensive rebounding percentage (38.7) and defensive rebounding percentage (70.0).

Scouting Furman (6-5, 0-0 SoCon)

- Furman is coming off an 84-71 setback to UNC Asheville on Friday and have lost four of its previous six contests after starting the season 4-1.

- The Paladins are led by three players in double figures with Holli Watkins turning in a team-high 14.1 points per game. Cierra Carter is pulling down a team-high 8.5 rebounds per contest while Whitney Bunn is dishing out a team-best 6.1 assists per contest.

- The former SoCon rivals are meeting for 77th time, the third-most common opponent for App State. Appalachian has owned the series with a 46-29 mark, including a 7-3 record over the previous 10 contests.

- Furman is the second SoCon team App State will play, defeating ETSU 70-52 on Nov. 19.
