NEW ORLEANS, La. – Appalachian State University men's basketball will look to rebound on Sunday afternoon following an 82-61 loss at Hampton on Friday night. Tipoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. ET.
The Mountaineers (1-2) will take on the Tulane Green Wave for the first time in program history tomorrow afternoon. The game will be aired live on ESPN3 and can be heard on radio on the Appalachian IMG Sports Network.
SERIES HISTORY
• Today marks the first-ever meeting between Appalachian and Tulane.
• App State has faced current members of the AAC a total of 67 times – 62, however, have come against East Carolina.
• The last time the Mountaineers played a team from the AAC was Nov. 16, 2013 when the Black and Gold fell to Cincinnati 77-49.
SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
• Tulane enters today's game coming off of a 90-82 loss to Southern on Thursday.
• This season, the Green Wave dropped their season opener to Alabama A&M in overtime 68-67.
• Ironically, the Green Wave's lone win this season came in a 79-74 overtime win over Drake last Monday.
• Tulane is led by four student-athletes who have posted double-digit scoring numbers thus far this season.
• They are led by senior guard Louis Dabney who is averaging 15.3 ppg. Dabney is shooting .308 (12-39) from the field and just .280 (7-25) from three-point range.
• Malik Morgan is also averaging 15+ points per game (15.0) and is shooting .471 (16-34) from the field.
• Dylan Osetkowski and Jernard Jarreau round out the double-digit scoring for the Green Wave - 12.0 and 11.0 points per game, respectively.
• Tulane has committed 50 turnovers this season and collected just 36 assists. Conversely, opponents have talleid 26 assists and committed 46 turnovers.
• Opponents are shooting .431 against Tulane, including .324 from three-point land and .738 from the charity stripe.
• In Tulane's most recent loss to Southern, the Green Wave were led by Morgan with 18 point, while Dabney and Osetkowski both chipped in 16.
