JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Appalachian State University men's track and field competed at the ETSU Invitational, which spanned both Friday and Saturday in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Mountaineers were led by John Leonard who took second-place in the shot put with a throw of 49-11.25 feet, while Nathan Milch claimed fourth-place with a throw of 49-9.00 feet. Leonard also finished fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 52-0.25 feet.
Senior Rapheal Rojas took sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.52. Ryan Hastings finished in 10th with a time of 1:57.60.
Sophomore newcomer Evan Laratta took 10th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:34.27, while Josh Cox finished 13th in a time of 15:38.13.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Appalachian State's group of Joshua Hanna, Rojas, Hastings and Kimani Hoffman finished in fifth-place. The group finished in a time of 3:18.10.
In the pole vault, Patrick Quinn took third for the Mountaineers with a vault of 15-1.00 feet. Returning sophomore Matt Layne finished in sixth and also cleared 15-1.00 feet. Henry Bustle finished in seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 45-4.50 feet.
The Mountaineers will return to action next Friday, Jan. 23 at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
