Field Hockey Falls 9-1 to Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio. — Appalachian State University field hockey (2-6) ended its Ohio roadtrip, taking a 9-1 loss at the hands of Ohio State (3-4) on Sunday at Buckeye Varsity Field in Columbus.

The Mountaineers could not stop the Buckeyes surging offense. Maddy Humphrey scored three of Ohio State's nine goals in the match, while Brooke Hiltz had four assists on the day. The Buckeyes scored three goals in the first half and six in the second half.

The Mountaineers got their first goal off a penalty corner in the second half. Senior Dana Wetmore found junior Hanna French to score the Apps only goal. Wetmore led the team in shots with two while French added the only other Mountaineer shot.

Appalachian conceded 23 shots to Ohio State and the Buckeyes earned 12 penalty corners on the day to the Mountaineers three. Cristina Ceppi started in the net for the Mountaineers and earned four saves on the day.

The Mountaineers will travel back to North Carolina to face nationally-ranked Wake Forest in Winston-Salem on Tuesday then returns home to host William & Mary on Friday and Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
