WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's track and field finished day one of the Wake Forest Open on Friday with several strong showings. The meet will finish up on Saturday afternoon.

Marshall McRae broke his personal record in the 100m preliminaries with a time of 10.83, but would just miss qualifying for the finals by .1 of a second.

Phillip Thomas was the only pole vaulter to place as he took fifth by clearing a height of 14-11.13

Jon Howes finished first for the Mountaineers and 16th overall in the hammer throw with a throw of 149-3.0, while Nathan Milch placed first for App and 16th overall in the shot put, throwing a distance of 46-11.50.

Isaiah Relliford notched a top-ten finish for the Mountaineers on Friday as he placed seventh in the triple jump event with a mark of 44-5.25.

The Wake Forest Open continues on Saturday.
