BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's track and field is set to host the Appalachian Pre-Conference Meet on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The meet will begin at 1 p.m. in the Holmes Center, with the pole vault event kicking off the day. The day will wrap up with the 4x400m relay.
The Mountaineers will compete against Milligan, Virginia Military, Wingate, Montreat, Gardner-Webb, Guilford, Queens of Charlotte, Mars Hill, Carson-Newman and UNC Asheville.
Appalachian comes off a successful showing at the Liberty Quad this past week as five distance runners took the top-five spots in the 3,000m run, led by Tristin Van Ord's 10:06.05 time. Katie Cagle followed in second-place with a time of 10:12.52.
Allison Cook managed to place first in the 1 mile run for Appalachian, posting a time of 5:11.85, making it her best time this season.
Brianna Tate and Gayshawna Watkins took the top-two spots in the shot put as Tate threw a distance of 47-5.25 and Watkins had a throw of 45-11.25.
The Mountaineers will return to action on March 1 when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the 2014 Southern Conference Indoor Championships.
