STOCKTON, Calif. – Appalachian State University field hockey ended its 2014 saeson with a 5-2 loss to Pacific in the fifth-place match at the NorPac tournament on Friday. The Mountaineers finished with a 5-16 overall record, going 1-5 in the NorPac.
The match was scoreless through the first 18 minutes of play, but opened up for Pacific when Alicia Muinos scored the match's first goal. The Tigers would add three more goals over the next eight minutes to blow the match open. Nicole Laskosky scored the first in the 20th minute followed by another by Muinos in the 26th minute. Leah Cofer added the final goal before halftime to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead at the break.
With ten minutes left in the second half, Laskosky scored her second goal of the game. One minute later, Appalachian was finally was able to get on the scoresheet when
Jordyn Warren centered a pass that
Jessi Stuart put into the back of the net. The goal was Stuart's fifth of the season which is tied for a team high with
Taylor Cimbalist.
In the final minute of the match the Mountaineers has a two-on-one situation in the Pacific half.
Savanna Sheridan passed to Warren on the right side and she was able to slide to past the goalkeeper's left side to make the final score 5-2.

Cristina Ceppi saved eight shots in 70 minutes. The Mountaineers will bring back 20 players from this year for the 2015 campaign.
